I’d stopped to take a photograph of a fender-bender, which you can see in the left of the frame, when I saw this girl, standing in the street between parked cars, tossing torn pieces of purple tissue paper into the air.
After all the tissue paper had fallen on the street, she gathered it up as if to through it again. However, she was interrupted by the call of her mother, a san lun che driver dressed in the usual clothes one associates with the trade.
The development of this shot was a bit tricky. I tried to bring-out the colors of her dress and shoes from the shadows whilst not blowing away the highlights on the first car and in the sky (a beautiful blue one, btw). Still not quite right, but I think as close as I’m going to get it for now.
