Multicolored Building in Shangdi

It was a bland and dreary day in Shangdi (where I work) when I took this photograph. The colors and shapes of this newly- constructed building made it seem so inviting.

Wasn’t until developing the shot just now that I noticed the concertina wire strung atop the perimeter wall.

Oh, well, so it goes…

  1. That is an amazing looking building! Belongs more in Rio, I would think! Fabulous looking. Maybe the rooftop wire is to keep the dogs from jumping or the kids from falling?

    1. They do a lot of experimentation here. Money to play around with. šŸ™‚

Not on the rooftop. On the top of the perimeter wall. Click on the picture to get a larger version, and you’ll see what I mean.

  2. another wonderful combination of shapes…this time waiting for you to catch. waves, squares, circles, just on the building alone! i never know what to expect when you post. i always learn something new. this building could be in sweden or the u.s. or many other places.

  3. most americans, looking at the picture without anything more, would never dream it is in China and that the diversity in Chinese cultural dwarfs ours

    1. Agreed. Also, there is an acceptance of other cultures that I’ve not see that much of elsewhere. That goes from embracing basketball, to celebrating valentine’s day and christmas (sans naivety), to the building styles you see.
