Rehearsing Company B

Pictures from today’s rehearsal at the Beijing Dance Academy for an upcoming performance of the Paul Taylor Dance Company classic, Company B. Leading the rehearsal (and doing the staging of the ballet) is Richard Chen See.

The dancers are first and second year students at the academy.

It’s been quite a few years since I’ve done dance photography, something for which I’ve had a longstanding passion.

btw, I took over 500 shots to get these five; something that I totally expected before shooting the rehearsal.

  1. I hope that someday you’ll get some collections of your photographs published, Rob. You have such a wonderful eye and an eclectic range of interests — I always love looking at your work, and hope that more of it will get wider distribution. Was very sorry not to connect with you on your last visit stateside, since it’ll probably be a long time before we see each other again. Still … there’s the Internet! B^)

    1. Thanks! I’d like to get a wider audience as well. Just not sure how to do it. Also, I think the range of my interests might be a bit off-putting to folks who only expect one sort of photography. Oh, well, so it goes…
