These three pictures were taken outside the Pretty Shopping Center (featuring a Walmart). Beijing Opera was loudly playing from a large speaker mounted behind the license plates. I didn’t check to see if there were actually birds inside of the covered cages.
Laolao (Shanshan’s mother’s mother) came over with the parents today. Ruo Bing roughly translates to meat pancake. She made two types, hamburger and pork.

I think this building was around a year old when it (and the surrounding village) was torn down. This type of full-scale urban renewal can happen quite suddenly. The sign on the fourth floor translates to “for rent”.
