This is a stitch of six photographs I took of the stairs Shanshan and I were climbing on our way to breakfast at the Ten Years After Café:
The café is on the third floor of the building. Although the building is only a couple of years old, it was built without elevators. (Some businesses later added them.) I’ve visited friends in older buildings who live in buildings of five or more stories that don’t have elevators.
It is coming on 22 years since the American with Disabilities Act was signed into law. I thought it was an extremely important and far-reaching piece of legislation… not only for people with permanent disabilities, but for those with temporary ailments or who have slowed down due to the aging process.
